May 5, International Day of the Midwife, is approaching. The International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) works every year to raise awareness of the importance of midwives around the world. This year’s slogan: “Midwives, Mothers and Families: Partners for Life”

This year’s theme focuses on understanding that midwives, through their work in partnership with women and their families, can contribute to better decisions about what women need to have a safe and fulfilling birth.

ICM invites all midwives to share their views, photos, and stories with the phrase “I BELIEVE IN PARTNERSHIP” on all information platforms to celebrate the wonderful work of midwives around the world.

Everyone who participates should not forget to include #IDM2017.

An example is Nester T. Moyo, ICM’s Senior Midwifery Advisor, who shared her views on partnership between midwives, mothers, and families.

On May 4 at 10:00 PM, a free virtual midwifery conference also begins. More click

The Section of Nurses and Midwives is organizing an event hike to Rožnik for this occasion, and I hope that this year midwifery students will also organize the “Student Midwifery Forum” and other activities in honor of our profession and this day. You can see what happened last year here.
