The campaign actually runs from May 2nd through May 6th, raising awareness through social media to refocus attention on mothers and their well-being. So that healthcare providers, friends, and family ask women: How are you? How did you sleep? Are you eating?

Maternal Mental Health disorders impact 15-20% of pregnant women and women in the postpartum period (year after birth), yet most are never diagnosed and treated.” – National Coalition for Maternal Mental Health.

May is World Maternal Mental Health Month and today, May 4th is World Maternal Mental Health Day ‪#‎momsmatter‬. “Maternal Mental Health problems like anxiety and depression impact ~20% of pregnant and postpartum women with potentially deleterious effects on the developing fetus, growing child, the woman, and her partner. It is the #1 obstetrical complication for women.
