The lecture series What do I need to know for a successful start to breastfeeding? covers all the essential information to empower you and make it easier to establish breastfeeding. It includes selected topics from the longer lecture Breastfeeding and feeding your baby.
- what’s the difference between lactation and breastfeeding
- does the size and shape of nipples and breasts really affect breastfeeding
- do I need to wake my baby
- how to ensure an adequate milk supply
- how to latch my baby onto the breast correctly
- how do I know my baby is hungry
- will I know that my baby is getting my milk and is full
- is it normal that my baby wants to breastfeed all the time
- how can I express milk from the breast
- which position should I choose for breastfeeding
The content, divided into modules, will support you and prepare you for a successful start to breastfeeding. The full content package lasts more than four hours. The advantage of an online lecture is that you can choose when, where, and how much content you want to watch.
And let me remind you: you need the most help and support with breastfeeding at home. That’s why it’s also important and recommended that your partner, or the person who will be your biggest support in the first weeks after birth, also learns about the benefits and skills of breastfeeding.
If you run into any breastfeeding difficulties, contact breastfeeding counsellors. Not every kind of help is the right kind, even if it’s well-intentioned, so it’s important to have accurate and professional information.
* access to the content is available for 14 weeks.
